Principal's Message
March… wow what a whirlwind. We blinked and suddenly another month has come to an end. We kicked off the month with our annual ski trip, and have been enjoying the warmer temperatures as the month has progressed. Spring is finally in sight and we are getting excited for all of the opportunity that comes with that warmer weather and the changing of the seasons.
Our Junior Basketball team wrapped up their season earlier this month after playing a few games against schools from neighbouring communities. The students have done a great job of further developing their skills this year, and showed great progress by the end of the season. Thank you to their coach Ana Gray for the hard work and dedication to having so many practices and games during the noon hour and after school.
Since the February break our students have started to get into the rhythm with regular badminton practices. This is always one of our most popular extracurricular sports, and the students are taking every opportunity that they can to practice at breaks and after school.
On Tuesday April 8th we have invited a guest speaker from the Joy Smith Foundation to come into our school to speak to both students and the public. The Joy Smith Foundation operates out of Winnipeg, MB and are the leading authority on human trafficking in Canada. They will be presenting on a variety of topics related to internet safety. Their objective is to educate others on such topics as social media, messaging systems, and what human trafficking might look like in a rural setting such as ours. They strive to educate others and to prevent human trafficking from happening in the first place. The Joy Smith Foundation will be presenting to our students during the school day as part of their health curriculum, and then they have also agreed to do a second presentation to parents and other members of the public in the evening. The community presentation will be held in our school library on April 8th from 6:30-8:00, and all parents and community members are welcome to attend. If anyone would like more information prior to the presentation, please feel free to contact me directly, or visit https://joysmithfoundation.com/ for further information about the work that they are doing throughout Canada.
